Our Story

Several years ago Lewis Willoughby learnt about the impact that access to books have on childhood literacy development as well as the cultural impacts of illiteracy.

After studying the topic for some time, it became apparent that some of those at the highest risk of illiteracy are located in remote areas of developing nations, often also suffering from a lack of reliable supply chains and in many cases extreme energy poverty.

Wanting to help make a difference and help to solve the unique challenges in improving literacy and learning in these developing nations, Lewis began researching ways he could harness his technical background to develop a solution to this growing problem.

Apollo

Meet Apollo

Apollo is our custom designed solar powered Ebook reader, designed to hold more than 10,000 books which can be customized dependent on the deployment geography. With no reliance on grid energy or internet and supporting a variety of languages, Apollo is designed to be suitable for some of the most remote places on the earth.

Apollo is currently in a design phase with a working prototype expected in early 2025. Apollo is designed to be lightweight and robust, with an ongoing production cost that will help us put as many of the devices in the hands of children as possible.
